Workout Tips from the Obamas’ Personal Trainer

Wish you could run up and down a basketball court like President Obama or have sculpted arms like the first lady’s? Cornell McClellan, the official trainer of the Obamas, explains how the first couple stays in such great shape. “They work out every day,” he tells Rachael. “It’s a lifestyle for them. They’re motivated, they’re committed, it’s how they live their life: the way they eat, the way they train, [the whole family] believes in fitness, so it’s an active lifestyle.”
Cornell, who has worked with the Obamas for 13 years, says that the key to a success workout schedule involves incorporating different activities such as strength training, tennis, golf and cardio programs: “When you work out every day, you want to keep it varied, you want to keep it interesting; you don’t want the body to become complacent.”
